Titsey Wood (5 mile cycle route)

Start - The Grasshopper Inn Public House, Moorhouse (A25), Near Westerham, Kent TN16 2EU (01959 563136). Parking is available in the pub car park (subject to permission).

Description – This is a 5 mile cycle that takes in a significant proportion of off road, much of it downhill. You start by going uphill but it’s not too steep and you have the reward of a nice downhill. In the wet months these bridleways can be hard work as they maybe boggy!

Green St Green (5.2 mile cycle route)

Start - A bridleway next to the ’Orpington Caravan Centre’, Green St Green, Orpington, Kent BR6 7LR. On road parking is available on the local roads.

Description – This is a 5.2 mile circuit that features several byways and bridleways, some of which have steps and, depending on your ability, may require you to carry your bike over. It’s a great circuit with hardly any road. There are 2 Public Houses on the roundabout close to the start

High Elms (5.9 mile cycle route)

Start - High Elms Country Park Car Park, High Elms Road, Orpington (01689 862815).

Description - This is a 5.9 mile circuit that takes in numerous byways and bridleways, some of which are steep and have steps which will require you to carry your bike(s) over. The start is at the High Elms Country Park, which has a very nice picnic area. There is a steep climb (road) into Downe, where there are a couple of Public Houses.

Sundridge (6 mile cycle route)

Start - The Woodman Public House, Goathurst Common (B2042), Ide Hill, TN14 6BU (01732 750798). Parking is available in the pub car park (subject to permission).

Description - This is a 6 mile cycle that takes in some nice scenery and starts/finishes at a fantastic pub, The Woodman. This circuit takes you through picturesque lanes, a farmyard and bridleways. The last couple of miles are uphill but it’s not extreme.

Chelsfield Lanes Cycle ‘A’ (7.2 mile cycle route)

Start - The Five Bells Public House, Church Road, Chelsfield, Orpington, Kent BR6 7RE (01689 821044). Parking is available in Chelsfield.

Description – This 7.2 mile circuit is predominantly on single lane roads or quiet country lanes although there is a short stretch that takes you on a busy road. There are 2 pubs en-route: The Five Bells in Chelsfield at the start and The Rock and Fountain just before Well Hill. This circuit includes a steep road section that may require you to walk with your bike for 200-300 yards. Although there are no off road sections here the scenery and remoteness of lanes make up for it. A shorter version of this cycle, avoiding a busy road, is available in the Under 5 mile circuit pack (Chelsfield B).
