Family Cycling in Croydon/Reigate/Redhill & Bromley
The availability of suitable cycle routes for children in the local area is a real issue. When creating these circuits we had this in mind, but the hilly local terrain means that suitable routes are difficult to come by.
However, we believe we have created 3 practical solutions in our rural packs.
- We have created a total of 9 under 5 mile circuits across the 2 areas we cover. Published cycle routes tend to be aimed at keen cyclists, therefore these shorter routes are relatively unique and you may feel that your child is more able to cope with them. For teenagers you may wish to consider the 5-10 mile circuits.
- The byway and bridleway report – As part of the process of creating these circuits we have surveyed miles of off road sections. These reports indicate the off road sections that are most suitable for children. Depending on which borough’s routes you order you will get the report applicable to that borough free of charge.
- The Croydon/Reigate/Redhill Report – Provides details of nearly 32 miles of off road sections which have been surveyed as part of creating these circuits and are suitable for children.
- The Bromley Report - Analyses approximately 23 miles of off road sections that have been surveyed as part of creating these circuits. The Bromley report lists all off road sections we surveyed regardless of their suitability for Children but indicates which ones are most suitable.
- We have produced a list of all the parks in the regions we have covered which lend themselves to children’s cycling. Although cycling is not allowed in certain parks, others allow cycling or choose not to enforce the 'no cycling' bylaw. We have visited over 150 parks and provided you with a list of those parks which:
- have no obvious sign indicating that cycling is not allowed / knowledge that the bylaw will not be enforced
- are relatively flat
- offer a network of paths or a large area of green to cycle on.
The list you will be issued will depend upon which rural regions routes you order and
will be issued free of charge with the under 5 mile circuit pack and the combination packs.
